The Basics About RV Mattress

Benefits Of A Camper Mattress

  • Rest: Mattresses provide all sorts of benefits and the freedom of rest is a prime example. By putting a solid RV bed mattress nearby, you could lie down and let loose whenever you feel tired. That means you never need to worry about exhausting yourself in the middle of the trip.
  • Support: For your information, different sleeping postures require different levels of support. If you want to keep your body supported throughout the night, it’s strongly recommended that you pick up a conforming camper mattress
  • Pain Relief: As time passes by, you should come across various health issues, especially pains in the joints. That being said, if you own the best RV mattress, you would be able to escape the sore and ache in the morning with relative ease.
  • Space: Your RV is kind of small so you cannot spare a lot of space in the interior? Then it’s a good idea to grab a purpose-designed RV mattress at the earliest opportunity. Compared to their household counterparts, mattresses for camper have a slim construction and that is a big plus in narrow rooms.

Prominent Types Of Camper Mattress

The market nowadays contains numerous mattresses for RV but it’s possible to split the models into four types: innerspring, foam, air and hybrid.

Innerspring Mattresses

Packing a steel coil support system sandwiched between padding materials, innerspring mattresses could provide consistent comfort in a wide range of settings. Therefore, in terms of adaptability, models of the type outperform most of their competitors. In addition to that,  since innerspring mattresses come at reasonable prices, they match the wallet of ordinary RVers.

Foam Mattresses

As the name suggests, foam mattresses make extensive use of foam in their composition. Because of that, models of the type excel at conforming to the body of RVing enthusiasts. Level of support is your primary concern as you shop for mattresses? In that case, it’s best to stick to foam mattresses.

Air Mattresses

Made to be inflated and deflated at a moment’s notice, air mattresses earn a shower of praise from those who value versatility and flexibility. Outside of use, models of the type occupy little space so storage is a walk in the park. Nonetheless, it’s worth pointing out that air mattresses fall behind others once it comes to comfort.

Hybrid Mattresses

By combining characteristics of multiple types of mattresses, hybrid mattresses boast many strong points while minimizing shortcomings. Unsurprisingly, RV owners who desire premium mattresses hold models of the type in high esteem. Still, the steep price of hybrid mattresses means budget calculation is essential.

15 Best RV Mattress Reviews

Out of the RV mattresses we have tested and reviewed, these are 15 products that really stand out among the rest.

1. Best Overall: Serenia Sleep 8-Inch RV Mattress

Serenia Sleep Mattress

Specifications:

  • Size: King
  • Dimensions: 76 x 80 x 8 Inches
  • Temperature-sensitive memory foam
  • Even weight dispersion
  • 4-way stretch knit cover

Why It’s The Best:

I put Serenia Sleep AMZSS-MRV88-06 at the top of the list as it provides superior values compared to other products. Made in the US with superb workmanship, it lasts for years in use while guaranteeing a high level of comfort for the users. Thus, with this mattress onboard, I don’t have to concern myself with getting a mattress replacement any time soon. Additionally, since it’s certified by CertiPUR-US, I could rest assured knowing that my health is in good hands.

The moment I put my back on the mattress from Serenia Sleep, I’m instantly impressed by its construction. Consisting of temperature-sensitive memory foam and supportive base foam, this mattress not only conforms to my body but also keeps me supported. As a result, I never wave up in the morning feeling pain in the joints. The open-cell nature of the memory foam removes heat too so I seldom get overheated at night.

Thanks to the even weight dispersion, this mattress permits me to sleep without sinking into the foam. Whenever I sleep on this American made mattress, I can easily pick myself up in times of need which is a big plus. It’s noteworthy that this mattress excels at limiting motion transfer as well. That means as I twist and tumble on it, my partner who lies beside me still sleeps soundly.

On arrival, Serenia Sleep AMZSS-MRV88-06 was well-compressed and that made the setup process a walk in the park. As I cut open the packaging, this mattress released little odor into the surrounding. About the expansion pace, it took about a week for this mattress to return to its original size. Though the waiting time was not exactly short by any stretch, I consider it to be acceptable for a king-size mattress.

Being someone that likes to play it safe, I always pay special attention to the manufacturer warranty while shopping. In that regard, the Serenia Sleep mattress scores well: It comes alongside a lifetime manufacturer warranty. If I experience issues with it in the future, I should be able to count on the manufacturer warranty to set things right.

This mattress is insanely comfortable, and doesn’t transfer motion. We are going on 7 months with it, not a single sign of wear. I highly recommend! We bought the RV king for our 377MBS Grand Design Solitude RV which we live in full time, but I plan to order this same mattress, regular king size, once we are back in a house. Super soft mattresses give me back pain. This one is not overly firm by any means, but just perfect. I sleep like a baby on it.

2. Best Value: Zinus 6 Inch Green Tea

Zinus 6 Inch Green Tea Memory Foam Mattress
Check prices and reviews

Specifications:

  • Size: Short Queen
  • Dimensions: 60 x 74 x 6 Inches
  • Green tea-infused
  • Pressure-relieving memory foam
  • Moisture-absorbing activated charcoal

Why It’s The Best Value:

Despite the fact that it could use some work here and there, Zinus OLB-GTFM-6SQ still deserves second place on the list. Offering quite a few features at a reasonable price, this mattress is the best value for the money in my opinion. Moreover, upon purchase, it’s accompanied by a ten-year warranty with comprehensive coverage. Because of that, if this mattress fails due to manufacturing defects within the warranty period, I would be able to claim a free replacement.

One of the things I like about the mattress made by Zinus is that it incorporates green tea extract into the foam. As a person that desires a fresh atmosphere in the bedroom, I truly enjoy sleeping on this green tea-infused mattress. Also, owing to the presence of activated charcoal, it is good at absorbing moisture in the surrounding. Following the purchase of this mattress, I rarely feel stuffy even as I travel through areas with high levels of humidity.

About support, I’m pleased to report that the foam of OLB-GTFM-6SQ holds up well in a wide range of conditions. Consisting of one inch of pressure-relieving memory foam and five inches of high-density base foam, this mattress cradles my body from head to toe. Hence, sores and aches no longer bother me and I can get the most out of my outdoor experience. Lastly, since this mattress is CertiPUR-US-certified, I don’t have to be too anxious about my allergies.

In terms of setup, I managed to move Zinus OLB-GTFM-6SQ to my bed in a blink of an eye as a result of the outstanding packaging. Being compressed prior to delivery, it smoothly squeezed through the interior of my rig. After I finished orienting it on the bed, I simply allowed this mattress to unroll and that concluded the installation. In my case, the Zinus mattress expanded back to its original specifications in less than three days.

For cleaning, I only have to spot-clean OLB-GTFM-6SQ from time to time to keep it in top shape. Countless cleaning products for mattresses exist but I like mixing my own solution with baking soda, hydrogen peroxide and dish soap. It’s important to point out that the cover is not to be removed under any circumstances. The cover is not washable so there is no need to add it to your laundry.

I purchased the 8 inch mattress for my RV and let me tell you it’s a major improvement from the stock foam mattress that came with the RV. It’s firm but gives enough to be comfortable. I slept well on it and I think it’s better than my home mattress. I find myself wanting to go camping more so I can sleep on it.

3. Editor’s Choice: Live and Sleep Resort Classic

Live and Sleep Resort Classic - RV Short Queen Memory Foam Mattress
Check prices and reviews

Specifications:

  • Size: Short Queen
  • Dimensions: 60 x 75 x 10 Inches
  • Breathable
  • Knit cover
  • Environmentally-friendly

Why It’s An Editor’s Choice:

Versatile and flexible, Live and Sleep Resort Classic is a solid mattress that makes it to the top three of the list with relative ease. Personally, I believe this mattress to be the best RV mattress short queen of its class for a life on the road. Optimized for RVing, it’s compatible with all sorts of RV beds available for purchase on the market. In addition, as it’s light, I could relocate this mattress at a moment’s notice and that is advantageous.

Unlike many of its competitors, Live and Sleep relies on pressure to control the properties of its mattresses instead of chemicals. Thus, as I sleep on Resort Classic, I don’t come into contact with anything that may trigger allergic reactions. Aside from that, I’m surprised by the ability of this mattress to relieve pressure points across my body. By making use of the mattress, the number of times that I toss and turn at night drops considerably.

Regarding composition, the mattress of Live and Sleep features air-infused foam on top and support form at the bottom. With the top layer of foam keeping the air moving around the clock, I have no trouble staying cool. I appreciate the bottom foam layer of this mattress too as it delivers a high level of support. The mix of foam layers ensures that I get enough rest at the end of the day and wake up revitalized.

I usually sleep with my spouse and our children join us every now and then which is why I need a strong mattress. Rated at 750 pounds, Resort Classic meets my weight demand nicely and it works superbly under load. Compared to the average RV mattresses, it holds its shape well as time passes by so sagging is not exactly an issue. As long as I keep this mattress on an even surface, it should perform consistently and keep deformation to a minimum.

As Live and Sleep designs Resort Classic to be a one-sided mattress, there is no need to flip it. That being said, I still opt to rotate the mattress at least once a month for the sake of uniformity. Interestingly, this mattress proves capable of limiting motion transfer regardless of the weight of people that lie on it. That is why I can sleep on this mattress alongside others all the way to morning.

As Comfortable As Our Bed At Home!

After a ten day road trip with our little travel trailer last year we had to make a change. The original mattress almost killed our backs. So, before thanking our first trip this year we ordered the Resort Sleep RV Short queen. It is as comfortable as our memory foam mattress we have at home. When we do our next ten day road trip we will sleep as good as we do at home! Oh, and when you do get yours, be sure and buy a waterproof cover to go under your regular mattress pad. That’s insurance for your investment should your RV spring a leak.

  • Economical
  • High endurance
  • Cleaning is a cinch

Cons:

  • RVers sometimes notice inconsistent expansion

4. DynastyMattress CoolBreeze – Best For Side Sleepers

DynastyMattress 10-Inch CoolBreeze Gel Memory Foam Mattress for RV, Camper
Check prices and reviews

Specifications:

  • Size: Short Queen
  • Dimensions: 60 x 75 x 10 Inches
  • Medium-firm
  • Gel-infused memory foam
  • Machine-washable cover

Why It’s The Best For Side Sleepers:

Side sleepers require a lot of support from their mattresses and DynastyMattress CoolBreeze meets that goal by all accounts. Being a medium-firm product, this mattress lets me sleep on my side while avoiding issues such as joint pain, sinking and so on. Furthermore, it’s an adaptable short queen mattress and that means I have an easy time finding a fitting RV bed. With a snug fit bed, I’m happy to see that this mattress hardly ever moves out of position.

Boasting three inches of gel-infused memory foam on top, CoolBreeze simultaneously contours to my sleeping posture and stops heat from building up. As a result, I no longer need to worry about waking up covered in sweat with pain spreading through the muscles. Besides that, at the bottom of this mattress is a layer of base foam with a thickness of seven point five inches. Thanks to the base foam, I would be well-cradled no matter which way I lie down on the mattress.

Even with my limited experience, the installation of the mattress made by DynastyMattress is child’s play: I received it in a compressed box. Thus, getting it to my bed was a straightforward affair that involved just a bit of time and effort. The moment I nailed the position of this mattress, I only needed to cut open the packaging to start the expansion. As expected, it kind of smelled during the expansion but to my surprise, the odor disappeared within a day on its own.

All in all, I value the decision of DynastyMattress to distribute CoolBreeze with its own machine-washable cover. Owing to the cover, I could keep the foam of this mattress out of harm’s way for most of the time. In the event that the cover gets dirty, all I have to do is to throw it into the washing machine. The cover dries quickly as well so I never have to leave the foam out in the open for too long.

Though DynastyMattress CoolBreeze is not exactly cheap, it’s far from a bank-breaking purchase. Because of that, by making several calculations, I managed to include it into my spending plan. Noteworthily, the thirty-year manufacturer warranty that accompanies this mattress indicates a long estimated lifespan. With it onboard, I can extend the mattress replacement interval and save a couple of bucks in the process.

I bought this for our RV and I’m glad I did. I sleep as well on it as I do on my expensive Tempurpedic at home. It’s firm yet the memory foam cushions my tender hips and shoulders from RA and fibromyalgia. I sleep alone on it so I don’t know how it is with a person on each side. I read many reviews from RV web pages and this mattress was in the top three of at least four sites. I’ve slept on it for at least six weeks and there is nothing to complain about. No problems with odors when we first opened it.

Specifications:

  • Size: Short Queen
  • Dimensions: 60 x 74 x 10 Inches
  • Moisture-absorbing charcoal
  • Airflow-enhancing comfort foam
  • Compressed

Why It’s The Best For Stomach Sleepers:

You tend to sleep on your stomach and seek the best RV mattress for stomach sleepers money can buy? Then there is a very good chance that you would come to like Zinus SM-AZ-FMS-10SQ. As this mattress is a multilayered product, I receive an excellent degree of support whenever I decide to sleep on my stomach. Moreover, since this mattress integrates moisture-absorbing charcoal, I could say goodbye to the stuffy feeling around my stomach as I sleep through the hottest nights.

On top of SM-AZ-FMS-10SQ is a three-inch-thick layer of memory foam that conforms to my posture over time. Thus, it helps relieve pressure points all over my body which puts an end to the sores and aches. In the middle layer, this mattress utilizes airflow-enhancing comfort foam that keeps the air moving and allows me to stay cool. For the last level, it uses high-density support foam so I can get quality shut-eye and get up with relative ease in the morning.

To accelerate the setup process, Zinus distributes its mattresses in compressed packaging and that eliminates the hassle of positioning. The fact that the size of this mattress is short queen also means it fits quite a few beds for travel trailers nowadays. Following the removal of the packaging, the foam immediately started expanding and reached the pre-compressed dimensions in mere days. During the expansion, I didn’t notice any odor in particular besides the green tea extract.

At 500 pounds, the weight capacity of Zinus SM-AZ-FMS-10SQ is decent: not too good, not too bad. Nonetheless, it’s strong enough to cradle me as well as my partner at the same time so we can sleep side-by-side. As this mattress comes alongside a cover, I don’t have to pick up a separate mattress cover. I refrain from bringing food and drink into the bedroom but if accidents occur, I just have to unzip the cover then machine-wash it.

About price, the mattress made by Zinus is an economical model that matches my modest shopping budget. It holds together well too so I should be able to spend less money on mattresses replacements and more money on other needs.

We bought our RV last spring and took it our for a 2 night stay in April. After a horrible sleepless night on the mattress that came with the RV from the factory, we had to pack it up and head home. I searched all over for short queen mattress and they all ran about $800 and up. When I came across this one I kept scrolling because of the price. It was so low it had to a piece of junk, right? But then I got frustrated with all the others with mixed reviews and trying to decide what’s best I came back to this one and said what the heck. I saw the reviews for this were pretty good and thought if I try it and don’t like it, I’m not out that much money. Well I’m glad I did! I took it out of the box in my basement and gave it more than the recommended time to expand. Then my wife and I laid down on it and wow. This felt as comfortable as our $2000 mattress in our bedroom at home. Several camping trips later and this mattress never disappoints!

Specifications:

  • Size: Queen
  • Dimensions: 60 x 80 x 8 Inches
  • Green tea extract
  • Ultra-cooling gel
  • Jacquard knit cover

Why It’s The Best For Hot Sleepers:

Designed with attention to heat dissipation, Zinus OLB-FGM-0800Q is capable of preempting the appearance of hotspots around the clock. That is why in my opinion, this mattress is the best mattress for hot sleepers in its price range. Additionally, the foam it uses is certified by CertiPUR and that guarantees a superb level of safety. Despite being someone with certain sensitivity issues, I have yet to find anything that makes me feel uncomfortable while sleeping on this mattress.

Owing to the incorporation of ultra-cooling gel in its top foam layer, the Zinus mattress consistently regulates temperature. As the outside temperature increases, this mattress still ensures that I won’t sweat like crazy during the night. Besides that, the conforming characteristics of the foam allow it to provide relief to the weary joints of my body after a long day on the road. Ever since I bought it, I have been sleeping soundly even in the dog days of summer.

For softness, from what I have seen, OLB-FGM-0800Q is going to cradle people up to a total weight of 500 pounds. This mattress archives that by including one point five inches of comfort foam in its construction. It’s worth pointing out that the foam not only holds on to my body but also facilitates air circulation. Needless to say, with this mattress in the bedroom, I rarely have to get worked up over issues such as smell, mold, etc.

In terms of support, Zinus OLB-FGM-0800Q makes extensive use of high-density base foam at the bottom. As a result, regardless of my sleeping style, I still wake up in the morning free of joint pains. For an RVer, being able to start a day without pain in the joints is a big plus and that is why I think of this mattress as a wise investment. Last but not least, the 500-pound weight capacity of this mattress is more than enough for me and my spouse.

As soon as the packaging is out of the way, the mattress from Zinus is going to expand back to size. The time it takes for the expansion to complete varies from case to case but my mattress reached the original specifications within seventy two hours. Afterward, I could use it in any way I see fit and the jacquard knit cover helps a lot as well. To reassure customers, Zinus backs its mattress with a ten-year warranty and I find that reassuring.

Our old RV mattress was starting to get slumps in it where we sleep so we bought this queen mattress, 8″ thick, firm version. The width and length size is exactly what is described. Very fast delivery, box was creased on one side and indented into the mattress itself. But we took it out of the box and plastic, unwrapped it and let it sit on another mattress at a friends house and let it fill out for 48hrs. It rose up to 7.75″. Just 1/4″ shy of a full 8″ tall. No smell at all like others have said, and the corners filled out perfect. My wife and I are very happy with this purchase. Firm does mean firm and we like it that way. We didn’t realize how shot our old mattress was until we slept on this new one. VERY HAPPY.

Why It’s The Best For Neck & Back Pain:

While it looks kind of plain from the outside, Lucid LU10TT45MF possesses everything that I could expect from mattresses. With the integration of premium materials, it easily relieves pressure points in the back and neck of sleepers. Thus, I believe that this mattress is one of the top products for those having a hard time with back and neck pains. Also, since this mattress is made to be hypoallergenic, I never need to worry about it triggering my allergies out of the blue.

It took me mere moments to set up this mattress on the bed on my own so it scored well regarding ease of installation. Being an eco-conscious RVing enthusiast, I’m attracted to green-oriented products and that is why Zinus RV-SC-BTCM-8SQ captures my interest. Engineered with biofoam that replaces some of the traditional petroleum with natural plant oil, this mattress permits to keep the atmosphere fresh. In addition to that, owing to the ability to keep out allergens, it works wonders at curbing my allergic reactions. As a result, I could sleep in peace when night comes which means I would be able to wave up energized.

Possessing multiple layers of foam, the mattress of Zinus is not only comfortable but also supportive in use. On top is two inches of memory foam that conform to the way I sleep and align my spine. In the middle is two inches of pressure-relieving foam that offer relief to pressure points across my body. Last but not least, at the bottom, it packs four inches of high-density foam and that guarantees generous support under heavy load.

Compressed, rolled and shipped, RV-SC-BTCM-8SQ gave me no problem in terms of installation. The compact packaging allowed me to move this mattress throughout my rig into the bedroom in no time. Besides that, the moment I removed the packaging, I noticed a faint odor but it went away following a few days. Though the expansion of foam was not exactly quick, the size of the mattress reached the original specifications before long.

For compatibility, Zinus RV-SC-BTCM-8SQ works well on my bed as it’s made for short queen mattresses. When the setup process wraps up, this mattress seldom moves away from its position and that removes the hassle of repositioning in the morning. To keep disturbance to the minimum, it shortens the reach of motion on top of the mattress. Therefore, with motion transfer being less than an issue for most of the time, I can get some shute-ye alongside my partner.

About cleaning, the mattress made by Zinus is easy to clean so keeping it in good condition is child’s play. On average, I could get rid of stains on this mattress using only baking soda. Since the mattress cover dries in a blink of an eye, I would be to resume using this mattress within hours.

How To Choose The Best RV Mattress: The Criteria

The RV community is at odds about what is the best mattress for RV but to make a wise investment, you must memorize these considerations

Comfort

All in all, it’s safe to say that the comfort level of a mattress for travel trailer dictates its value in use. Even if you buy a high-end mattress with premium materials, you cannot get a good night’s sleep if you feel uncomfortable. To grasp the level of comfort, you should refer to the softness of materials, the way that the materials touch your skin, the smell, etc. To be thorough, it’s widely advised that you read some customer reviews too.

Dimensions

It’s common knowledge among RVers that free space is hard to come by inside the interior of rigs. Therefore, before bringing anything into your RV, you have to take dimensions into account to avoid congestion. In most of the cases, you would be able to determine the dimensions of a model by giving its owner’s manual a look. Compare the dimensions to the measurements of the space where you plan to place the mattress and see whether the numbers match.

Portability

To make use of RV mattresses, you have to put them on your rig which may be difficult if you fail to think about portability. Normally, mattress brands ship products in a compressed stage that ease the process of setting up mattresses. When the mattress is in position, all you have to do is to cut open the packaging to free it. Within a matter of days, if things proceed smoothly, the mattress should expand to the original dimensions.

Safety

A number of brands with unethical practices cut corners and use materials that pose a threat to human health to make mattresses. Products from such brands usually emit VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds), provoke allergic reactions and so on. If you care about your well-being, refrain from getting mattresses that have suspicious safety records. Nowadays, you could research the safety records of a model by taking advantage of the Internet.

Warranty

Generally speaking, the purpose of a warranty is to cover defects on the product that it backs. That is why an assortment of RV mattress reviews deem warranty as an indicator of quality, capability, longevity, … Naturally, products that come alongside solid warranties prove popular among full-time RVers who have few changes to replace mattresses. Still, for good measure, you should spend a bit of time checking out the terms and policies.

FAQs About RV Mattress

1. Do you need a special mattress for an RV?

Overall, in a pinch, you could squeeze your household mattress onto your rig but it’s best to use purpose-designed products. In case you don’t know, RV beds tend to be narrower than those for residence and that presents dimension issues on occasions. If you fail to consider fitness, your mattress is going to shift from time to time at night. Consequently, the shifting would prevent you from getting quality shut-eye.

2. What is the difference between an RV mattress and a regular mattress?

Compared with their regular counterparts, RV mattresses have slender dimensions to match the interior of rigs where space is luxury. Hence, even if the size is the same, RV mattresses never look as big as household products. Besides that, to ease the setup process, manufacturers of RV mattresses often lighten products by using less materials (foam, spring, gel, …). That means you may feel a bit different as you switch from a regular mattress to a RV one.

3. How thick should an RV mattress be?

A lot of factors affect the ideal thickness of RV mattresses. If you own a RV slide-out bed, you can use mattresses with a thickness between 5 and 6 inches. However, if your RV bed is a standard model, feel free to use whatever mattresses that you see fit. As a precaution, it’s suggested that you think about size distortion while deducing the thickness.

4. What RV mattress type is the most comfortable?

It’s not like everyone sleeps in the same way so opinions about the most comfortable mattress type vary from person to person. Because of that, if you place comfort about all else, check out the following.
Go for foam mattresses if:
– You wish to have a conform mattress that shapes itself to your posture
– You desire a high level of support throughout the night
– You have trouble with joint pains
Go for innerspring mattresses if:
– You like to own a bouncy mattress
– You seek consistent body support
– You get hot easily
Go for hybrid mattresses if:
– You want the best of both worlds
– You have money to spend
– You know where to get one

5. What are the most common RV mattress sizes?

Dimensions of the interior change between rigs and that is why the demand for mattresses often fluctuates, especially once it comes to size. That being said, presently, certain sizes of mattresses record higher sales than the rest.
+ RV King: 72 x 80 inches (182.9 x 203.2 centimeters)
+ RV Short King: 72 x 75 inches (182.9 x 190.5 centimeters)
+ RV Queen: 60 x 80 inches (152.4 x 203.2 centimeters)
+ RV Short Queen: 60 x 75 inches (152.4 x 190.5 centimeters)
+ RV Three Quarter: 48 x 75 inches (121.9 x 190.5 centimeters)
In any case, it’s ill-advised to commit to a purchase based on size alone as one size could have several sets of dimensions. Using the size table above, you should be able to determine which size of mattresses possesses the right dimensions for your RV.

6. How to keep an RV mattress from sliding?

Even if mattresses fit the beds snugly, they would still slide away every now and then due to an assortment of issues. To hold your mattress in place, you may want to implement the measures down below:
Consider buying non-skid products: Unlike double-sided mattresses that people can freely flip, non-skid products only have one usable side. In exchange, if you pick up a non-skid mattress, it’s possible to avoid the hassle of repositioning the mattress when you wake up. All you have to do is to make sure that the non-skid side of your mattress faces the surface of the bed.
Invest in a rubber mat: The gripping friction of many bed frames that RVers use is hardly adequate due to the nature of materials. Nonetheless, you would be able to rectify the friction issue by getting yourself a rubber mat. With the mat boosting the gripping friction of the bed frames, the odds of mattresses going out of position should drop. To be on the safe side, grab a mat that is slightly bigger than your bed frame then trim it down.
Install some side rails: If you use a box spring to hold the mattress, you could keep the slipping to a minimum using side rails. For most of the time, side rails prove more than enough to secure the average mattresses for RV.
Attach heavy-duty Velcro strips: Get your hands on some high-end Velcro strips, peel the paper, stick one strip to the mattress bottom and one to the bed top. The moment the strips come into contact, they would lock on to each other. As a result, you should have no trouble holding down your mattress around the clock. In times of need, you may supplement the Velcro strips with double-sided tapes.
Look for mattress suspenders: While they don’t hold mattresses as good as pins, suspenders eliminate the risk of ripping. By making use of suspenders, you can restrict the movement of your mattress as you twist and tumble.
